Political Activity
As a nonprofit corporation, Its For The Kids, Inc may not engage in partisan politics. However, it is perfectly allowable to bring political issues to the forefront for action.
Make your elected representatives aware that the problem of police/DA misconduct is large enough that groups of citizen victims are organizing to bring the problems to light.
Items that we feel are important to push your elected representatives to pursue:
1 - All police need to be wired for sound and video while on duty or involved in police/DA business. This will alleviate a lot of false claims against the police/DA as well as helping to insure the police/DA are behaving themselves. Note that this is a budgetary item so it is quite appropriate to make your views known to the County Board of Supervisors where it relates to Sheriff and DA and push to insure this is included in any budget that is approved.
2 - Police/DA must be held to the same laws as the rest of the population. It is in complete disregard of the Constitutions of the State of California and the United States that police/DA are allowed, and in fact are apparently encouraged, to lie and commit subornation of perjury. Police/DA that lie in a court of law on any point to secure or attempt to secure a conviction should be liable for the maximum sentence that might be imposed on the person if convicted of that crime.
